I once visited a professional who had researched a family of interest to me.
After discussing this family, she went to a file cabinet, pulled out a
folder, and handed it to me to read. There wasn't one bit of current
personal data in that file. The research report had the client's name and
address, but nothing else. The only background data was that necessary to
establish a starting place for research (in the 18th century). Obviously,
she either kept the financial/personal/current information in a different
folder, or purged her files when the assignment was complete. Oh, that I
could be so organized!
