We need to keep in mind, however, that the same is not true of microforms of
the Family History Library/Genealogical Society of Utah--they are not
considered publications. They are made under agreements with owners of documents or of
the copyright, providing for limited copying for use by the library and its
patrons, and should be cited as photoreproductions made by the library, not as
publications by it.

History Library, D. Jane Carpenter wrote:

Repository custodians everywhere can empathize with that sentiment! An
archivist explained the gaps in an original records series in a similar vein: "We
take what they give us and hope for the best."

As a distant and less frequent user of the Family History Library, I join
Elizabeth, Ken and Alvie in invoking blessings upon those who work there--the
staff and volunteers who assist us when we can visit in person, and the local
professionals we can call on between visits to mine the collection for some of
the goodies that are difficult or impossible to access elsewhere.
