Perhaps this issue has been discussed before, but I would appreciate
comments from
list members regarding how to properly cite a foreign source. I refer to
HFL or Swedish
parish records. A researcher in Sweden sent me via email, jpegs of
Huesfoerhoerlængder [HFL]
or parish records of households. The researcher cited each HFL jpeg as
"HFL, A1:3, page 85,"
for example. She also included the specific village or farm name and the
year. All of these records were from
one parish in Sweden.
So, how should these sources be cited in my family history? I assume the
name of the researcher
should be included and the date of the email? How much information should
be included, etc? Is it necessary
to write out the word "Huesfoerhoerlængder" for each record or can the
appreviation of "HFL" be used? I know
there are many list members who will be able to answer these questions.
Thank you all for your input.
