Gale,

If I understand you correctly, in your view, it is only copyright
infringement if an entire book is copied and sold. Is that what you meant?

I'm trying to get a handle on what is copyright infringement in the world of
genealogical works versus other types of literature.

Am I missing something here? This firm will copy index pages, and pages with
references to a specific surname for a fee. This is much like when we as
researchers go into libraries and archives and photocopy pages from books we
don't
have on our personal library shelves. The only difference I see is that this
firm is offering to do the copying for us. It's not offering entire books.

IMHO, this doesn't infringe on copyright laws anymore than when we make
copies ourselves. Oh, and one of my books is on this list. I can get
red-hot, as
this list has noted, when there is infringement. This doesn't seem to me to
be
one of those times.
