Linda,
Rootsweb has a brief discussion of oral history
http://www.rootsweb.com/~rwguide/lesson1.htm

and a list of questions to choose from
http://www.rootsweb.com/~genepool/oralhist.htm

There is a review of an oral history book in the latest NGS Quarterly
- book is called "Oral History Manual." The book is not geared
toward genealogy.

I have used the book "Field Projects in Anthropology" for teaching,
and chapters on interviewing and collecting life histories are
relevant for genealogical oral histories. Some of the stuff on
kinship and artifacts may also be interesting. Of course, it is
geared toward anthropology. (Julia G. Crane & Michael V. Angrosino,
1992, 3rd ed., Waveland Press, Prospect Heights IL).

I've also used "Oral History, a Guide for Teachers and others," Thad
Sitton et. al., 1983, U Texas Press, Austin. It has pointers for how
to interview (asking open questions, listening well, having the right
equipment, etc.) and forms for releases and so on. I believe the
book came out of the Foxfire project which recorded folklore/life
histories in the South.
