I wanted to be the first to say congratulations to Matthew Wright, the
editor of the APG Quarterly magazine for the fine new look that arrived in
my mailbox today.
Usually I just sort the mail and stack things to be read later, but I must
say with the eye-appealing cover enticing me to turn to the useful articles
inside and I had to sit right down and give it a more thorough going
through. Helen Leary's lead article is thoughtful as usual. A surprising
fact that comes to light in the bio of Birdie Monk Holsclaw, CG, FUGA and
her mother Arliss Shaffer Monk, CG is that they are the only mother/daughter
certified pair. Discussions on records access, FHL facts, Writing Family
Histories, needing a CPA, a visit to Germany, a reprint of a newspaper
article about researching black history featuring a cemetery are written by
familiar names and experts in the field. These articles along with the news
that we need to know truly make this "The Professional's Voice."
Give it a gander and see what you think.
