Have you (or anyone else) ever gotten a response from a "post-it"? I have
posted several and only got response to one. My MO is to post a message
saying I have additional information about the family or individual, if they
are interested. Guess they weren't.

I have--frequently. But I think the real benefit of adding a Post-em Note is
to add to or correct info right on the spot -- not as a form of
communications. Some GEDCOMs on WorldConnect/AWT were submitted by people who no longer
have Internet access or who are deceased and cannot reply to you.
When I was still on RootsWeb staff I helped with several "deceased submitter"
GEDCOMs and also assisted some elderly genealogists who were entering nursing
homes and were about to lose their Internet access permanently who wanted to
get their life's research online permanently and entrust it to RootsWeb.
One submitter of a huge GEDCOM knew he had a terminal illness and wanted his
file to remain online after his death and publicly posted his wishes on a
mailing list--he also realized his file may contain some errors and openly
encouraged others to add to his life's work through judicious use of Post-Ems.
