I started to read Elizabeth’s article in NGS (Elizabeth Shown Mills,
“Genealogy in the “Information Age”: History’s New Frontier?” NGS
Centennial, A special Issue of the National Genealogical Society Quarterly
Vol. 91, No. 4 (December 2003) page261) and didn’t get past the first line
before I had an amusing thought that I had to share. Elizabeth writes:”
Modern genealogy – appropriately done – is history in microcosm.” Macro and
Microeconomics came immediately to mind and I thought maybe we should change
the name of what we do from genealogy to Micro History :-)
