Subject: [APG] Emergency Plan Update
Date: Thu, 6 Nov 2003 15:11:39 -0800 (PST)

To answer two of the questions posed to me
after my update:
First, considering the number of points
which need to be covered, I strongly suspect the
final result will be too long for the APG-Q. I
wouldn't object to publishing it there, but don't
think it could be pared down to a reasonable
length for that purpose.
Second, I was asked why a felt the need to
write a plan for "all of us, when our personal
needs are so different." Although even model
plans seem to vary widely, my initial research on
the subject showed that many specific businesses
and professions seem to have "model" plans for
the use of individuals in that field. Since I was
going to write one up for myself, I wondered if
writing a model one would be worthwhile. As I
conceive of it, the model plan would consider any
question which might be relevant to anyone in our
profession, discuss all the alternatives, offer
guidance on customising your own plan, then offer
an example of how a completed plan might look.
When I asked for a response from this list,
everyone seemed to think it was a good idea to do
so. Enough of you are interested that I feel it
is worthwhile - I certainly don't mean to suggest
that you need to use my plan if you are more
comfortable developing your own to fit your own
personal needs.
I am still lacking any volunteers to post
the rough draft on their web site for review and
comment, once it is ready. As I don't have a web
site myself, and this is not the time to make
that change, I will need someone to step forward
if it is to be readily accessible. If no one
does, I will try mailing copies to those of you
who expressed a specific interest, but fear the
postage bill may get a bit steep... A few bucks,
times twenty or thirty mailings, can add up to
real cash.
Ray
