But I thought the site you posted searched all of the on-line SSDI
databases. Therefore, the search results should return the maximum number of
hits, no matter whether some of the databases do not have a newer entry.
Instead, it is returning only the least number on any one database.

I suggest, at least until, I find out more, that you will get the best
results with the RootsWeb SSDI.

I'm not familiar with this all-in-one search thingy for SSDI but I see no
point in using it when RootsWeb's free SSDI is all you need.

An all-in-one is either allowing you to select one (and that should be
RootsWeb's anyway) or it is providing a metasearch feature which is in effect
putting another layer between you and the actual search engines and often resulting
in lost hits.

Take, for instance, RootsWeb's metasearch engine on the main RootsWeb page.
Type in a surname that has umlauts and see if the results tell you if that
name appears in WorldConnect/AWT. You won't get any results because metasearch
can't handle umlauts. BUT, if you go directly to WorldConnect and do a search
there for an umlauted surname you will get the hits directly from
WorldConnect's search engine because that search engine CAN handle umlauts and other
extended characters.
