Subject: [APG] Next Book Offering to APG Members: "Professional Genealogy" at a 40% Discount
Date: Sun, 15 Jun 2003 12:22:29 -0600
Attention APG Members:
APG's membership benefit of providing selected books at a 40% discount
has been a great success. More than 40 members took advantage of our
initial offering of "Genealogical Resources in New York."
We have made arrangements with Genealogical Publishing Company to offer
a 40% discount of "Professional Genealogy: A Manual for Researchers,
Writers, Editors, Lecturers, and Librarians" edited by Elizabeth Shown
Mills. No doubt many members already have the book, but for those who
are new to our profession and those who have been putting off buying
this important work, now is the time to buy. The book lists for $44.95.
APG members can purchase it for only $25.97 plus shipping. Shipping and
handling costs are as follows: $7.00 U.S. via UPS; $10, Canada; $17
other countries.
This offer is good from June 15 - July 14 only. Members must purchase
the
book by sending a check payable to "Association of Professional
Genealogists" to our business office at PO Box 350998; Westminster, CO
80035-0998. (Members outside the U.S. can pay by credit card.) We will
gather all the orders and at the end of the offering period send the
orders
to the publisher. The publisher will direct ship the book to you.
Payment by
U.S. members is by check only because the entire savings is being passed
on to the purchasing member and using a credit card incurs a discount
expense to APG.
"Professional Genealogy" has 29 chapters covering every aspect of the
business of genealogy. The chapters are divided into sections titled
Professional Preparation, Ethics and Legalities, Career Management,
Professional Research Skills, Writing and Compiling, Editing and
Publishing, Educational Services. The complete Table of Contents can be
found at http://www.genealogical.com/item_detail.asp?ID=3844.
It is a 654-page reference work written by two dozen experts in various
accepts of professional genealogy. There is an appendix for
Abbreviations
and Acronyms as well as a sections covering "Codes, Guidelines, and
Standards: United States and International." The book also has an
extensive index.
