Has any APG Members used Lumberman Directories before.

I am working on a relative that was in Idaho at what today is Ft. Sherman as
a Lumberman in the 1880 Census named Emmett Smithson.

There has been no records of any military service.

Any ideas of where the Lumberman Directories could be or where else to look.
