More explanation is needed on your part Julie...

Your Ludwig may have been a Hessian soldier.
He may have been a Loyalist.
His last name may have been HUDSON.

You're sure of Ludwig/etc. as a first name? Why?

Why do you suspect, or even not know for sure,
that the last name may have been "Hudson"?

"They" 'all went to Canada in 1784' ... the year after
the Rev War was over. Including Ludwig?
...and then he died in the U.S.?

Just trying to understand and maybe help.
