Hello Nelda;

Kandel in the State of Rheinland-Pfalz, situated just a few miles
west across the Rhein River at Karlsruhe, is nowhere near any
recruiting area for any of the principalities, except for some
British recruiters who went up and down the river Rhein
to get some recruits for their British troops.
But all the six German principalities who supplied troops to
England, would take on any able-bodied man who had the
minimum size of 5 feet regardless of their place of birth or
religion. This means there were Swiss, Austrians, Polish, etc.
as well as from any district of Germany.
I hope this answers this question.
But to the Heinrich PROBST who is listed in my Guide
(see below) this was from a note in the JSHA Journal of 1997,
and you can find that name in the JSHA depository at the
F & M College, listed by Barry W. on our website under
Box 34 Folder 34. Since this JSHA collection is only in our
Mail list archives, it is not covered by your new search engine.
Cheers,
John
