Dear Geri Brennan, dear Hessians:
There was alsoa Hessian soldier named Philipp KLINGER,
of the Hesse-Hanau Chasseur Corps. He served in Canada
and was discharged there in 1783. His place of settlement
was Toronto, where he established himself as a blacksmith.
He is mentioned on page 68 in my book
'The Hessians of Upper Canada",
and also in the book by Henry Scadding,
titled "Toronto of Old", published 1987.
This Hanau Chasseur was born 1758/59 in Hochheim/Main,
which is near Wiesbaden.
Perhaps he was related to the Pennsylvania Klinger's.
Greetings,
John Helmut Merz.
