James Raines was born 1793 in Sc and moved to walker co Ala. by 1822.and lived there the remainder of his life.
He Fathered 12 children and most of them remained in walker co.
His first wife was Milla Barton,dau .of Moses and Fannie Barton.
they married 1818 in Lawrence Co Ala.
they had 9 children.
[1]William Bailey married Elizabeth Kennymore 1841 and moved to Ark in 1869.[my great grandparents]
[2]Francis married Byrd Cole. remained in Walker Co.
[3]Allen married Lucinda Robbins. died in Civil War.
[4]Hiram married #1 Phoebe?? #2 Aseneth Adeline Abbott. remained in Walker Co.
[5] James- no record found after his service in the civil war.
[6] Milla- no record found after 1850 census.[ any clue on who she married?
[7] Rebecca married Isiah Williams remained in Walker Co.
[8] Margaret[peggy] married Wm Washington Abbott-remained in Walker Co.
[9] Massa married James B Mullins. last found in walker co in 1870.
Milla Barton Raines died 1843 and is buried in the Sardis Cem.
James remarried in 1850 to Susan?. a widow with 1 son john b 1845. on the 1860 census his listed as Raines. but i dont know Susans Maiden
Name or #1 Spouse. Any Clue?
James and Susan had 3 Daughters.
Lucinda married Wm Best. remained in Walker Co.
Synthia married Robert Williams[was in Winston Co in 1880. Where were they after 1880?
Sylvania Married John Newton Pate. remained in Walker Co.
James died there in 1871 and i have not found Susan after That. she was in her early 40s so she may have remarried. Any Clue?
would like to hear from desc of any of the above.
