Thanks for the confirmation. I do think at one time he ran some sort of tire store
or an automotive store, maybe a Western Auto store. At the time of his death I was
only around ten so its pretty fuzzy. I do remember there was a great Dairy Queen
close by, on down 5th Avenue I think. I used to visit my Aunt soon after his death
and I would loiter down around the coal yards and put pennies on the track and wait
for the steam locomotives to come by. I lived in Birmingham, so it was quite an
adventure going all the way to Jasper to visit for a few days. My Aunt worked as a
bookkeeper for a clothing store in town, Sims or Sams or something. When she got
off, I got to go to the swimming pool there and it was an excellent pool as I
remember, even had a high dive. (Heaven forbid, a HIGH DIVE, how dangerous).
