Hmmm--
Have you tried to find an officer named George Allen? Of course the name
could be George Allen _______ (Smith, Jones, Abercrombie or whatever). Do
you know Henry/George's Civil War Unit (narrowed down a bit more than Jubal
Early)? Could the officer be one he met as a POW? Have you checked the
Civil War Soldier & Sailors web site which includes POW info for prisoners
processed at Ft. McHenry and Andersonville

I did a quick check and did not find either Henry Clay McLeod or George
Allen, but I did find a Henry Clay HIBBS. Could he have used one more
name;-) ?
