Subject: LOW Brothers - Rhodesia, prior to 1899

Hello:
I wonder if anyone has access to a Salisbury directory or other
material that might have a list of inhabitants of Salisbury or other
major centre in Rhodesia during the latter period of the 19th century.
Alexander LOW was born in Tottenham, Middlesex in 1862. He appears
to have left London about 1890, and was said to be in Rhodesia up until
1899, when he moved to Nairobi and established a Trading Syndicate on
the outskirts. Alexander died in Nairobi in 1911.
It is also possible that a brother, William Temple LOW, born
Tottenham, Middlesex in 1864 may have been in Rhodesia at about the same
time. He left Africa in about 1910 an emigrated to Sydney Australia.
Finally, another brother Walter Savill LOW, born Tottenham,
Middlesex 1868 went to Salisbury in 1904/5 where he was a merchant until
1908, at which time he returned to London and then emigrated to Canada.
I would love to hear from anyone having any information on these
brothers.
I have written to the archives in Harare, but have not received a
reply.
Thank you.
Cheers,
Derek Low,
Chilliwack, B.C.
Canada.
