> Does anyone know any information about my grandfather called Charles
Payet. He may be in his eighties. Up until recently he lived in Praslin.
He had 2 children with a woman whose last name was Esther. They had a son
called Walter (who died about 20 years ago) and my mother who was born in
May 1943. Her mother died in a traffic accident outside a church in Mahé.
My mother was cared for by missionaries (in particular Grace Durope) and
was renamed VICTORY MAY PEARL (ESTHER). She has several half siblings but
they have all emigrated to Australia. She lived both on Praslin and Mahé
but left for England when she was 18. Any information would be gratefully
received, especially to find the name of her mother.
