Hello Graham
I drove today to Rehoboth and spoke to Leslie MAASDORP
He is the school teacher or head master at a Rehoboth school.
His grandfather was F.W. Maasdorp, the speaker of the Volksraad (1923)
I will have school holidays as from next week on and I will visit him next
week again. He is also interested in Genealogy .
according to him , the MAASDORP did not come with the other families from
the Cape. His family did come from Upington. But there where some brothers
in Cape Town .
He will show me all his record, he has land records from Upington from the
MAASDORP family and other information as well.
He will allow me to take pictures of his records (digital camera) .
I would appreciate if you could send me some information on earlier MAASDORP
that I also can give him something in return.
He is not yet on Internet but will have access very soon. I will also get
his postal address for you.
I also enquired about the church books from Rehoboth at the Rehoboth Museum
and had to learn that they are all in
Germany!!!!!!!
This sounds very strange but I think that they may have a better home in
Germany then in Rehoboth. I will find out who has got them and where they
are stored in Germany.
The Anna Maasdorp School is in Duinefeld, south of Rehoboth. The school is
named after the wife of F.W. MAASDORP
That is all I could find today
Best regards
Heinz KRUMREY
