SabaaH al-Khayr, yaa Salem, and the other members of the AFR-LIBYA List,

First of all Ahlan wa sahlan (welcome) to the list. I am your hostess, Karima al-Basha, the administrator of this list.

The list is a new one, with only 7 subscribers, so I hope you will let your friends know about it. We are also putting together a web site on which we will feature not only genealogy, but also the history and culture of Libya (The Land of `Umar Mukhtaar), if any of the members has a personal web page or knows of links to other pages which should be listed on the web site, please let me know.

I, and the rest of the members of the list, are hoping to hear from each of you soon. Please introduce yourselves and let us know what (Nisbah) family names you are searching and your connection to them. For those non-Arabic speakers, "Nisbah" is the Arabic word for "genealogy".

I should also mention that the Rootsweb system is not set up to handle Arabic fonts at this time. However, we can use them, eventually on the web sites which I am putting together, for some of the articles, etc.
