Thank you for thevery informative comments on the surname Quevedo.
The Quebedeau or Quebedeaux who was the progenitor of the Quebedeau or
Quebedeaux clan in Louisiana and southeast Texas was Joseph Québédeau (or
Quévédo) dit l'Espagnol
The name Québédeau(x) first appeared as a family name in North America as
early as 1723 and during the 1740s it was recorded at Fort de Chartres, one
of the French posts along the Mississippi River in Illinois, where a Joseph
Québédeau dit l'Espagnol and his wife Marie?Anne?Antoine Beau, both from
Paris, France, lived and reared several children. Joseph's nick name,
"L'Espagnol", indicates that he was a Spaniard originally named Quevedo,
which was later Gallicized to Québédau.
According to Missy Burke at:

Joseph QUEVEDO was living in the Illinois Country as early as 1723, he died
early in 1745 or somewhat earlier.
The Quevedo or Québédeaux family imigrated to the Louisiana Territory thru
France which causes a great deal of confusion. All Québédeaux families are
related the spelling was changed as French priests, who kept official
records, spelled the name phoneticlly, as it would be in French. The
principal variants of the name Québédeaux include: Quévédo - Cavédo -
Québédeau - Québédeaux - Quibédeaux - Le Québédeaux - Québodeaux - Québodeau
- Kébodeau - Quibodeaux - Kuibodeaux - Kibodeaux, etc., dit L'Espagniol
