Becky & List,
Another note on Stephen A. White's Dicionnaire Genealogique des Familles
Acadiennes, which covers 1636 to 1714. It is useful to note that these dates
are for MARRIAGES that occured in that time span.
For example, my ancestors Jean THÉRIOT & Madeleine BOURG were married in
1712. Thus all details about them and their eleven children are covered. But
note should be made that each child listed has full dates of birth, baptism,
marriage, death and burial as known, including census and other information.
So Jean & Madeleine's son Joseph, born 2 Jun 1732 and baptized at Grand Pré
on 3 Jun 1732, married around 1758 to Madeleine BOURGEOIS, daughter of Pierre
& Marie-Francoise CORMIER, appeared on the 1777 census at Cabahannocer [LA],
and died before 22 Nov 1796 [when his widow remarried].
Although the children of Joseph will not be listed until the next set of
volumes of the Dictionnaire, we do have data nearly into the 19th century in
Louisiana on this family.
