According to DIOCESE OF BATON ROUGE CATHOLIC CHURCH RECORDS,
Volume 2, page 353, under the surname HARTLEY or HARTY, Simon's parents
were "Emundo & Winefrida Egan of Ireland". The abstracted entry does not indicate
which surname spelling is applicable to this particular entry which is a major
deficiency of this volume of the Baton Rouge books.
