And the War of 1812 was somewhat like Dec. 7th --except there no airplanes or bombs.

The Brits just hi-jacked our ships on the high seas and shanghied our sailors.

The Barber family came from Scotland and the Moore side of my family came from Ireland and the Owen side came from Wales so I guess I have a lot of Keltic DNA (mixed with German).

Twenty-five years ago I would hear a few sportscasters say Seltics--I have not heard that lately--mostly they say Keltic for Celtic.

Some say Celt. I was taught Kelt in school. Celt ought to be said as Selt

Hi Fred,
I think you & I over the years have discussed the Celts.
I agree with the pronunciation with a hard C - so as it were spelt Kelt.
One of the two Glasgow association (soccer) teams
s called Glasgow Celtic but there it is said as in sell.
And, the Scots are/were Celts - weird lot those Scots! <vbg>
Note that in the British Isles, we have "driven"
ut the Celts to the extremes, Scotland, Wales,
ornwall and over the water to Ireland.
Some would say that is where savages should remain!
On the subject of hiberniating, I always think of the dormouse.
The dormouse leads me on to Mad Hatter's Tea
arty & good old Lewis Carroll aka the Rev Charles Didgson.
Carolus is the Latinised form of Charles, of course.
Tea Parties lead me on inexorably to Boston, a waste of good tea.
Think how may cuppas were wasted in the Harbo(u)r.
And to dress up as Native Indians - how shocking! How racist!
NO wonder we Brits think twice about views from across the Pond. <vbg>
Mind you, I do not harbour grudges about events in the long past.
I just remember.
Phil
