Ireland was settled by Kelts (Celts) and it was called Hibernia. Some
believe that because the people once lived on the Iberian Peninsula, the name was a
derivative. Seems way too long ago and hard to believe, but there is a
tribal memory sometimes.
There are several monoliths in Ireland that have Ogam script carved on them.
They match the early script found in caves in the Atlas Mountains.
The Catholic Church in Ireland had most of the monoliths destroyed.

Azimuth is from Arabic. It was probably formed as an acronym
representing north + east/west + south. The Hebrew equivalents are
tZafon = north
Mizrakh = east / Ma3arav = west
Darom = south
TZaFoN = north is a homonym. It also means "secret, hidden". So early
maps that identified Ireland as the "secret island" were probably a
mistranslation of Arabic maps that identified it as the "northern
island".
