I don't know how widespread it is but here in the states were refer to a
handful of coins as 'change'. I have two questions about this. How
did
loose coins become change? I assume that it comes from exchange, as in
the return of money in exchange for a larger denomination, but a
handful of small bills is not called change.
The second question is whether the same term is used commonly elsewhere.
What is change referred to in other parts of the world?
