A Yorkshire accent was first heard in news broadcasts from the BBC during WW2.
The German propaganda machine made many attempts to broadcast false news
items over wavelengths used by the BBC.They were unable to produce anyone
capable of sounding like a well known Yorkshireman, Wilfred Pickles.
