Hi Jacqueline,
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wingrove/s-bergamini-b.htm
This is my web page. It is all accurate except I don't know about Alexander
Giovanni Bergamini (AGB). I couldn't calculate the year of birth right from
the death certificate. Click around on the blue Emma J. Wingrove and then
on More Bergamini Family. I got the information about him (AGB) off the
Scott web page. Like I said, I can't find anything to prove any of it on
him. They say he (AGB) was born in Trieste. I can't find any of this or
the port of entry, or the marriage information. They were married in 1940
with 3 or 4 kids according to the New Orleans Census (click to see on Mr.
Higgins page on Bergamini's). They may have been married overseas for all I
know. If not, they had to be married in New York or Philadelphia. The web
master was fascinated about the Thomas Louis Bergamini's and offered to do
my page for me. Mr. Higgins is a friend of my web master and has compiled
his story from what he had on Wingrove, the Scotts had on AGB, and I had on
TLB and AGB.

"could also go back two or three generations, that is Alexander di Giuseppe
di Giovanni." Does this say Alex of Giuseppe of Giovanni??? That is not us
is it? On 1860 census he is 52 or 55 I can't tell. He had 5 or 6 children
(on web pages). The 1848 child is David (Middle name may be Louis)
Bergamini my Great Grandfather. Can't find a birth record on him. Went by
death certificate which fits 1848.

New York Genealogy Records, 1675-1920 has him in New York City, NY in 1835,
page 92 of Longworth's American Almanac, New York Register, and City
Directory. Last name is spelled Bergamine which is one spelling of the
duplicate death certificates on his wife. It had both spellings.

Thank you for helping me! I really appreciate it!
Barbara

----- Original Message -----
From: "LEO ANGELANTONI" <langel1030@rogers.com>
To: <italy@rootsweb.com>
Sent: Thursday, June 05, 2008 9:21 PM
Subject: Re: [ITALY] Alexander Giovanni Bergamini

> Hi Barbara: I would suggest you send a written letter to the comune di
> San Benedetto. I have been unsuccesful in receiving a reply to my e-mails
> from the different Comunes in Italy. Do not send money. Their research
> is done on a voluntary basis. If you were to obtain a copy of the
> Marriage certificate from the church in New Orleans, it would show the
> name of his parents and could also go gack two or three generations, that
> is Alexander di Giuseppe di Giovanni. There is another place called
> Ferriere, in the Po Valley which is worth researching. This is the way I
> see your case: Bergamini, Alexander, WARD 1, New Orleans, Alex 52 in 1850
> was, born in 1798 and not 1808 (although in those days they would not give
> their right age) has a son 2 years old, so he might have married around 50
> years as no other children were mentioned.. The child would have been
> born in 1848. All of this would make it easier to obtain Church papers.;
> for these papers you might have to
> pay.. Don't give up. I am helping a lady who has been researching for 9
> years and finally found where her grandfather came from in Italy. Some of
> the above info was supplied by Tom Scott on one of the web sites.
> Jacqueline
> b_waiting <b_waiting@sbcglobal.net> wrote: Ciao (Hello) Vito!
>
> Thank you so much for this information! On Family search I found the only
> Alexander Bergamini there is and he was married in 1748 so that would make
> him to old to be the father. However I read that they name their children
> after the fathers father. So do you think this may be the grandfather
> (abt.
> 80 years difference by birth years) and I should start there in San
> Benedetto Po, Mantova (Mantua), Italy?
Hi Barbara: I would suggest you send a written letter to the comune di San Benedetto. I have been unsuccesful in receiving a reply to my e-mails from the different Comunes in Italy. Do not send money. Their research is done on a voluntary basis. If you were to obtain a copy of the Marriage certificate from the church in New Orleans, it would show the name of his parents and could also go gack two or three generations, that is Alexander di Giuseppe di Giovanni. There is another place called Ferriere, in the Po Valley which is worth researching. This is the way I see your case: Bergamini, Alexander, WARD 1, New Orleans, Alex 52 in 1850 was, born in 1798 and not 1808 (although in those days they would not give their right age) has a son 2 years old, so he might have married around 50 years as no other children were mentioned.. The child would have been born in 1848. All of this would make it easier to obtain Church papers.; for these papers you might have to
pay.. Don't give up. I am helping a lady who has been researching for 9 years and finally found where her grandfather came from in Italy. Some of the above info was supplied by Tom Scott on one of the web sites. Thank you very much for any help you can
> give me.
>
> B
>
> -------------------------------
> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to
> ITALY-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes
> in the subject and the body of the message
>
>
> -------------------------------
> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to
> ITALY-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes
> in the subject and the body of the message

-------------------------------
To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ITALY-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
