<title>[GAGLYNN] Radick / Readick / Readdick / Reddick origins - born Germany / Deutschland (1720s &#x26; &#x27;30s); arrived Savannah, Georgia, USA (1737)</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/GAGLYNN/2008-06/1212784871</link>
<description>Hi Folks,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;The following concerns the Reddick (Readdick &#x26; other r320-surname variant) families who are known to have inhabited Burke and later Screven Counties by 1785 (at the latest).  Later, genetic relatives of those families have been found in Camden and Glynn Counties.  One Reddick with Burke &#x26; Screven Counties origins has an exact DNA test result (measured haplotypes) at 37 markers that represent a real, true, and -exact- match with a Glynn County Readdick whose origins are in Camden County.  These two individuals are undeniable genetic cousins.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Please examine the following listing of the six children of Johannes Rettich and his wife Maria Barbara Wolff, married January 25, 1724:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;- Anna Catherina, born 27th of October 1724, died about 1/2 year later.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;------------------&#x3C;BR&#x3E;- Johannes, born 18th of April 1726&#x3C;BR&#x3E;- Johann Michel, born 20th of November 1728&#x3C;BR&#x3E;- Anna Apollonia, born 15th of June 1731&#x3C;BR&#x3E;- Johann Peter, born 27th of August 1734&#x3C;BR&#x3E;------------------&#x3C;BR&#x3E;- Elisabetha Margaretha, born 24th of Jan 1737.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;These six children were variously born in Pfeddersheim / Reichenbach / Raijibach/Raidelbach - mostly locations in Hesse state / Hessen Stadt, Germany / Deutschland.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Now,  those four middle childrens&#x27; names just happen to match quite closely with the four children who are known to have arrived at Savannah, Georgia on December 20 / 21, 1737.  They were the four known children of the Radick couple who arrived there:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Radick, John - Palatine Trustees&#x27; servant; arrived 20 Dec. 1737.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Radick, Maria Barbara, wife.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Radick, Ann Apolonia, daughter.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Radick, Hans Michael, son.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Radick, John, son.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Radick, John Peter, son.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Taking into consideration the -apparent- similarity in patterning of these names, then those four children born between 1726 and 1734 and those four children who arrived in Savannah in December of 1737 appear to be the same individuals.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;OK, what does this mean?&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Ulf-Dietmar Radicke is a participant in our Reddick / r320 DNA surname research project.  It is he who has found a set of German Protestant church records which record these children in Germany.  And they do happen to match the four children of the Radick family who happened to later become the Readick / Reddick / Readdick families of Georgia.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;My distant cousin Dr. Niles Reddick found a record for the marriage of a Anna Apollonia Rettich in Reichenbach.  Then, another marriage between Johannes Rettich and Maria Barbara Wolff was discovered (from 1724).  That set of names just began to wave all sorts of flags at us who are interested in these folks.  Anyhow, all of this does appear to be real!  And our friend Ulf Radicke found the original records that confirm a connection between this marriage and their children!&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Folks, we do appear to have a real link established by this finding.  These people are the ancestors of the Reddicks who helped to populate colonial Georgia and the later state of Georgia.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Our -very- -wonderful- und -excellent- friend Ulf-Dietmar Radicke has done all German-descended r320-surnamed researchers a great service.  As, we do seem to have the origins of the Georgia r320s of German origins pegged down to a particular Rettich family from Hesse state / Hessen Stadt.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Sincerely,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Dale E. Reddick&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;
